GPRS
Principle of GPRS
GPRS is an evolution of GSM to improve the data traffic.
Data exchange can be done at higher speeds (up to 115 kb / s instead of 9.6 kb / s) and packet (instead of circuit mode), allowing peak traffic (bursts) and share the bandwidth, instead of circuit monopolier a fixed rate.
Although the PGRS requires no equipment to replace GSM radio (a software update is still needed), the mobile terminal must of course be compatible, and new elements dedicated to data traffic must be installed in the network of operator (such as APN, the SGSN, the GGSN, the WAP proxy / Web).
GPRS supports X.25 and IP network protocols, so it can ship any connection application "network", so all the Internet services (not just WAP), each mobile operator allowing only certain services and Internet applications, according to his ability, technical and economic choices and the option paid by the subscriber.
