As I mentioned in my previous post , access WAP (WAP options and packages) allow HTTP, HTTPS and WAP. HTTPS uses SSL (or TLS) to encrypt the data, and as the protocol layer of SSL / TLS is between those of TCP and HTTP, all information and data is encrypted HTTP and therefore invisible to the network of operator, including the user-agent.

This means that you can connect to any secure site (HTTPS) from a PC or PDA via its mobile WAP (as explained in the tutorials with PC and PDA with ) without changing the user-agent! For example connections to sites of management of bank (eg https://particuliers.secure.lcl.fr), the secure webmail (eg https://login.live.com), etc ...

This also explains the possibility of establishing SSL VPN via a WAP-enabled mobile without them being rejected.

I updated the tutorial " Web Access on PC via mobile GPRS / WAP ": in fact the proxy is no longer necessary in SFR, and by establishing an SSL tunnel is no longer only Web (HTTP, HTTPS) that is accessible, but internet (web, POP & IMAP mail, VoIP, ....)!

You may have noticed recently by downloading the WAP settings SFR: there is no proxy! Until recently, in addition to the NPC "wapsfr" you had to use the WAP proxy / web SFR to surf on their mobile (or PC thanks to the tutorial ), this is no longer necessary.

In addition, the NPC wapsfr limited-and limiting-still surfing with HTTP, HTTPS and WAP, but using a tunnel (or VPN) SSL, all Internet protocols spend now! Ie it is possible to use a POP / IMAP (Thunderbird or Outlook for example.), To VoIP, peer-to-peer ...

Check out the new version of the tutorial to learn more about all this great news!
